First mods to a '98 GS400

Since it is an older car, I would use Seafoam to clean the piston heads, intake manifolds, etc...
It is cheap and proven to work. Gives you piece of mind!
Also Change the fuel filter! Look under my build thread for directions! Super easy!

Your grandfather was a man of great taste. Not much to do for mileage than low-rolling resistance tires, drive normally and keep up maintenance. It's a great car and will go forever. These are seriously under-rated cars, you can enjoy this car for a long time if you choose.

Thanks so much for the amazing response everybody! My last post didn't seem to go through, but I'm glad I got to read other posts before replying. Here's my GS taken in the summer:
I loved my Camry, unfortunately a few years ago, a fellow in a truck decided that stop signs didn't apply to him. She had about 190k on her V6 and would have lasted a lot longer too. Pretty sure this car was my actual first love.
Thanks bud. I guess for some context, I'm from ON, Canada so we tend to get a fair amount of snow and salt on our roads. Nevertheless, my grandfather definitely babied the car and I'm going to always look for a worn out part. I did do the upper and lower ball joints recently because they were very needed.
At this point I don't want to make any more power (again, 300 hp is enough for me) and the lowering may happen, but I do like the ride it has now. I've done a tune up to it in the mean time (new plugs, fluids, sea foam in the tank, physically cleaned the TB, etc)
Again, thanks for everyone's help!
Oh, also do you make any modifications to your hood to keep rock chips off?

I hear a lot of people have replaced the fuel filter or pump to help restore their MPG as these cars age. even though Toyota doesn't recommend it, theres a few threads on here for a visual. Thats cool your GS has the Headlamp wash! i that that was only a Euro spec thing
you can put on a "clear bra" to protect the hood? but thats all i can think of.

I'm some what new here and i bought a 98 gs400 off my neices husband about 3 1/2 weeks ago now. I justgot a quick question. What type of trans fluid does the gs400 use? I only ask because days later after buying it i decided to do some maintenance on it, so i went to both orileys and AutoZone to ask for what type of tranny fluid do i need for the car. They orileys said Mercon-iii and AutoZone said type-iv. Si ended up confused. Type-iv sounded right to me, especially since i have an 06 Lincoln zephyr that has an aisin transmission that uses type-iv fluid. From what i know toyota/lexus uses aisín tranny in there vehicles. So before i go and mess up the tranny i was wondering if someone can helpme out here? Would greatly appreciate it.
