Wheel setup suggestion.......please?
#1
Hey you wheel gurus out there
I know that idealy speaking I should run 18"x 8.5 in the front with 245-40-18 tires, and 18"x 9.5 in the back with 265-35-18 tires.
However, If I want to run the 18" wheels (same depth) and the tires (same profile) front and back, what is the best set up with no spacers required? I would prefer to go with 40 series tire all around to minimize the change in comfort and noise level. Yet at the same time, I would like to also make my back wheel flush to the body panel as much as possible. It does look kind of funny with the current surface offset.
Will the 18" wheel setup make my car look funny if I do not plan to lower my car?
Your expertise is greatly appreciated.....

245-40's all around is fine, but without lowering, it doesn't look right in my opinion (I've seen cars and pictures).
And it still won't fill the rear wheel wells unless you stagger, but that's less of an issue. I can understand not wanting to stagger so the wheels can be rotated.

i agree, life is not perf.
to fill out the rear fender well perfectly, you need at least 275/35/18 combo.
but, for economic purpose, 245/40/18 would be the best way to go.
to lower or not, the opinion can be subjective. but for looks along, you should lower. think 3-Dimensional.if you lower thcar, even at 245/40/18 for the rear, the "space" would decrease dramatically.
however, for practicality, you do need to consider the road condition, your daily load(weight) in the car, your drive way. these concern has been covered widely by members. i suggest you read through them carefully.

hey some people have been talking about going 18s in front and 19s in back, kindal like the NSX style. I think that should be okay.
What about just 17s in front and 18s in back? I don't think I can afford 19s in back (tires cost too much) but if it's 17s and 18s I dont' have to worry about potholes and wheels cracking or twisting.
So, 17s and 18s? Will it look okay?

I dont think 17's and 18's would look too bad if you go with a 245/45 setup in the back thats what I have and you have to ahve the car lowered I have the L-tune shocks/spring combo and my tires are just shy of the wheel well in the back it looks real nice and its a comoftable ride people have told me that it looks like its been droped more than an 1" nut I told them that thats all I did was dop it an 1" but they dont believe me and thats a good thing

No Doubt!
You want to run 245/40/18 all the way around with a 8.5 in. rim! This set up will not only look fantastic but improve overall handling should you not decide to lower it or anything else.

biggie - you're running 245/45 on *18s*? That's a pretty big overall circumference (probably 3-4% bigger than stock - don't have my calculation spreadsheet handy) - if that's the case, I'm sure it does fill the wheel well and look more lowered than an inch.
