Default Tire size opinions

Hello all,

This isn't a tire fitment question, more of an opinion or suggestion request.

USE: the car is a weekend, street use only, supercharged setup.

Current setup:
FRONT 245/35/19 on 19x8.5 +37 good with tire size
REAR 275/30/19 on 19x9.5 +44 don't like tire size; sidewall too thin, hurts traction

I am getting the Continental Extreme Contact DW tires. I feel they will be MUCH better than my current Bridgestone Potenza Re760 Sports in the wet/dry and are also a lot lighter in weight (5-7 lbs savings).

I am torn between 265/35 and 275/35. The 265/35 are cheaper and lighter than the 275/35 and still provides a similar tread width as my current Potenza 275/30's! So I wouldn't be missing anything; only gaining sidewall thickness for extra traction and comfort.

However, the 275/35's are enticing. They are a good bit wider in both section width and tread width, have the thickest sidewall but are the tallest; over 1" taller than my current 275/30. Will these look dumb with my fronts? Almost 1" taller than the fronts 245/35.

I would love opinions, experiences and even pics if you have. Thank you!

Before you even said what sizes you were thinking about running, I thought to myself "265/35's" would look good. I think the 275's would look quite big compared to the fronts.

There is literally only .3 of an inch difference in height between 265/35/19 compared to 275/35/19. With needing as much traction as possible for forced induction your better off with the wider setup.

heres mine with 275/35/20 in rear and 245/35/20 up front. I still spin on cold days, since your boosted i would go for a much wider tire

It's not necessarily width needed as much as the right compound
Also, if you don't want such a low profile, why don't you get 18s? Lighter wheels, better tire selection, allows for more grip & comfort. Regarding the re760, 340 treadwear is a bit high for a "performance" tire. Look into the Potenza S04s, that's what I'm running.

Search for threads by Rob Daddy. I know he had 245/35/19 275/35/19 on his SSR GT3.

Thanks all! Much appreciated advice. I may look into the Potenza S-04. Not getting smaller wheels though, not looking to spend more than I have to, especially coming from an SC Build. Lol

Other than Potenza S-04 or Nitto 555. Any others?

Not really a fan of the Nittos. If you want anything in the same category that's on par or better than the S04s you'll need Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Anything sticker than that and you're not going to enjoy driving the car on a rainy day and the road manners might not be as comfortable as you'd like.
