Default Help! Need Identification of Engine Parts in a 2001 GS 300

I need to know what the hose with insulation around it connects to and controls? It comes from the top of engine and connects to a blue plastic piece at the back of the motor. I am getting a CEL P0440 and found a small crack in the hose, is this hose apart of evap system?

That's the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve. You should replace the hose, given that it's cracked, but it isn't part of the evap system and shouldn't cause a P0440.
