Don't Forget to Replace Those Balljoints!

I have been an active member for about 5yrs now, and I have yet to see or hear of a MOOG ball-joint failure.
Granted, the MOOG sample size is going to be miniscule compared to the OEM ball-joints running around. But there is no question that the MOOG is significantly beefier.

Hi CL guys,
I just want to grant it to all this tip.
When you change these Ball Join, you have or need very careful when changing the bj of the passenger side. If you don't doing right you will damage the speed sensor and the light on your cluster turn ON immediate you start driving the car. Also, be careful with the drive side as well. The cost of that speed sensor is like 150$ or more. So, be careful when you do that.

did mine last night took around 2 hours on a lift. My driver side bolts all needed to be torched off . No cotter pins and the tie rod was making noise. I didnt have any trouble on the passenger side with that abs sensor it was nowhere near what i had to do.. I just moved the wheel to the left or right and used a hammer and torch to hit the bjs out. Passenger side was alot easier. Put all my grease fittings on. Pulled it out the garage and didnt hear any noise. Drove car home and backed up and still hear a creak somewhere lmao. I still needed to do the bjs but now i guess im chasing another noise . =(

Ball Joint History Unknown
Got my 2002 SC430 about two months ago. The odometer shows 102K. It had a recent all-points inspection at the dealership with no noted problems. Then I took it to a local garage to have the suspension checked out as the ride is quite rough (now I know that is a common problem). The mechanic said all is well aside from having original shocks. My question is this: Is there any way I can determine if the balljoints were replaced at some point?

Car is 12 years old with about 80K, Potholes in Colorado this winter were really brutal, and I got paranoid after reading all these threads. Replaced with moogs, got alignment, and greased. Car feels awesome.
The old ball joints had a lot of play and were cracked leaking the grease on other components. It was a good time to do them and I can sleep at night now. =P
