Can you hear an audible chirp when you lock/unlock your car with the remote? When I am in my garage I can hear a beep, when using the remote, any where else I don't hear anything. Can the dealer elevate the sound level of the beep? I find myself going back and pulling on the door handle to see if the lock has engaged. I know that the lights flash, but most times I forget to look at them, since all my other recent cars have had some sort of chirp or beep. This morning I found out that if you hit the lock twice on the remote the auto headlights go out. This was a nice surprise since they usually stay on for 90 seconds and I was constantly looking back at the car to make sure the lights would go out.

 

Yes, I hear the chirp. Think it's an optional setting the dealer can do. They can also set the amt of time (30-60 secs.) before it will relock if you don't open the door.

 

TMitchell - I do the double click on the key every day to make the lights go out (I park at work in a covered garage so the auto lights are always on). As for the chirp, if the car's more than 50 yards away I might have trouble hearing it, but other than that, no problem.

Are ya in a noisy area or have you been playing your stereo so loud it's made you deaf?

 

I think my hearing is ok. I park in a high traffic area so it's pretty noisy.My wife can't hear it either. I'll ask the dealer if they can adjust the sound level.

I hear the chirp at all times EXCEPT for when I am in a high traffic area, and then I don't hear the chirp at all. I usually just keep hitting the "lock" button and look for the flashing lights - but some times on a sunny day you can't see those either... I don't think that the dealer can make the chirp any louder.

My sister just got an IS300 and the chirp for the lock/unlock is a different tone and louder. Maybe if you can find the module for the chirp you could possibly switch it out for one from an IS, I'm sure you could make it work.
