Default Need help on color for my gs

okay here is the problem I have a crystal white gs and I am playing to paint it soon the car has the tan inter. and I thinking about 3 choices of color................

1. Black oyx
2. Graphite grey
3. Newer white for the gs

but aiming for black..........but not sure if it will look good with tan inter. my white is turning a little dull and many scrachtes everywhere............3k for a paint is a lot any one know where in socal is a good place to do a paint job.

I'd go for the Black Onyx for two reasons.

1. Your car is already white, so new white paint won't be TOO noticeably different.
2. Tan interior would not look good with a Graphite Grey exterior.

IMO, 3K is not cheap, but not as expensive as I've heard paint job costs. Haven't people paid up to 10K for a paint job? Look at it this way.....because you're paying 3K for the paint job, you deserve that shop's undivided attention from now on in terms of helping you to keep the car shining with the new paint job.

Don't forget to post Before/After pics!

IMHO, 3K is dirt cheap. To do a color change on a car, and to do it right, all the mouldings have to come off, windows out, you have the engine box to deal with, insides of the doors, trunk, etc.
If it was mine I would have them fix the problem areas and shoot clear over the white and leave it at that.
Then when you have a white base under black and you get a rock chip it is really noticeable.
I have painted cars and seen lots get painted, and if the time isn't taken to prep the car right, all you end up with is a mess. My motto is you get what you pay for. I would expect to pay at least $8000 for a good paint job. Just my 2cents.............

wow 8k for a paint job i mean that is almost 1/3 of the car price..........is the paint the most expensive part of the car? i mean who is paying 8k for a paint job is doing a tad to much..... I mean wouldn't you think... 8k But hey if you gots the money to spend then do it but I really don't and 3k is a lot for me and I am planing to only spend 3k or less on it.......blk might be the color but not sure.

you do realize that once you have your whole car repainted, the value depreciates more rapidly than an OEM paint job.

Drop 3-4k in paint on a 1999 GS. Why not just look for a GS in better condition and put that $$ towards it, you will never recoup that money back from the paint job.

I agree with woodyath, stay white cause it's a pain to paint the doorjams, the engine compartment, trunk. ect. Maybe go with a pearl white, and a more noticeable white and get away without painting the jams and stuff. and os course make sure you tell them to get the airplane industrial clear, same clear old classic cars and hotrods use to make the paint look like glass!! Then your white will look good with out doing the small sections.
