1999 gs400 aftermarket radio with amp bypass
I have a 1999 gs400 with nakamichi sound system. First I lost power to my sub I checked it with a test light. Then all my sound is gone. I know I have a bad amp. I just want to run an aftermarket with amp and subs. Done it in Manu vehicles but most have been Hondas and this lexus is way more complicated. Not gonna lie I'm looking for cheapest and simplest option. P.s I get confused with technical terms. Can work on a car pretty good just can't understand the language. Thanks for any help.

Get rid of the "serial" radio and amp. Or bypass the serial amp. It's located on the right side of the trunk.
You can't mix aftermarket with serial components, they won't speak same language. I re-ran all wires throughout the vehicle and never has any issue.

Hey, I’m actually just now seeing this and was planning on doing it on my own. I still have the stock amp driving my door speakers and an aftermarket amp + sub. Problem is, high volumes is distortion and I have a pretty good feeling it’s because of the amp. My door speakers are Pioneer 6.5 200w per pair. Could it be because of the stock amp? I have no idea how much it could output. I am able to just run all the door speakers to the amp and use RCA cables to connect it to the head unit like a subwoofer does? Or is there more complications?
