Current LS430 owner acquiring a GS300 with 65k for my son. Check engine light is on. Former owner said something about a small leak where the manifold connected to the exhaust (or possibly the engine. Seems to drive fine. Any ideas? Thanks.

Whats the code you're getting? I'm thinking something in the p04xx area. If so, need to find that exhaust leak and seal it. yea the car will run fine, but the o2 sensors arent reading exact numbers since some of the exhaust is leaking out before it gets to the sensor. You're probably going to get bad gas mileage, possibly run lean. Yes in the long run it can mess things up, but nothing to run to the stores and stock up on bottled water and canned food for
Any muffler shop should be able to find the leak and seal it for near nothing (if its just a simple spot weld). Worse case scenario, gonna have to remove the exhaust manifold and either replace it or just weld and grind the hole.
Is the leak audible? Do you hear ticking or rumbling (like a set of low level glass packs or something)?

It sounds ok to me at this point. I will have to drive the car more to see if I hear anything. It may be a few weeks before I can get it into a muffler shop. Thanks.
