Default found a GS..what do you think?

No HID's which kinda of upsets me. I really would like NAV, HID and heated seats because I swore to myself that my next Lex would be purchased with the stuff I wanted. Postivies are black on black and the price.

My LS is my first car and I bought it for a good price without really knowing the other years had better packages and regret not getting a 1993. I could always add HID, heated seats, but can't really add NAV for cheap.

The car's price and mileage is what's attractive. 80K is a little high but the GS is like my dream car for the past 2 years or so and the price seems decent. I'm not exactly full of funds either, so I'll be winging the payments and insurance. I'd appreciate it if a couple people here with OK jobs wouldn't mind exchanging their job earnings thorugh PM. I don't mind saying what I make to see if it's even possible for me to afford this. C'mon guys I just need someone to tell me I'm being stupid or if I'm being smart before I call the loan office AND person selling the car up and ask to look at it. ..

Looks very nice!

Have you gone to Edmunds.com to determine the wholesale / private party / retail value for the car with options and mileage?

Looks pretty sweet... I wouldn't worry too much about the mileage. It's hard to go wrong with black on black...

Make sure you can get the sucker financed- financing a private-party used car is not always the easiest thing to do. Some banks/credit unions have year & mileage limits, most won't finance a used car over five years old or with more than 60K miles.

Peoplefirst.com doesn't care, that would be a good place to get a loan if you have perfect credit.

Looks good. Be careful that the wheels don't seem to match in that picture. One is chrome, the other isn't.

Dex - I *think it's just the angle..click on the photo for the bigger version you can see it's chrome.

Thanks guys for the input..nice to know some people are there!

My avatar is representative to the chaos going on in my head..decisions decisions.

I've been looking on and off for a month but can't seem to find a car that's under 22K with those options. I'm guessing HID and heated seats would be like $24K?

my gs400 is for sale, it has 105k miles on it but, has been serviced and maintained very well, it has a bodykit, aftermarket wheels, stereo, L-tuned suspension, borla SS exaust, black on black, and Ill let it go for $20k, the car does have HID's no NAV though, I do have heated seats, if you have any questions PM me. Its a 99 by the way so it doesnt have DRL's

I got my 98 GS400 w/Nav & HID, 48000 miles a year ago off a guy in Rancho Penasquitos. I paid $27,500.

You should be able to get this car for under $20,000. The lux used car market it saturated and demand is low. I was just recently looking at autotrader to see what used 2000 BMW 540's were asking. Even dealers were only asking around $30k. A year ago, they were asking closer to $40k for a 1999.

I've been looking at the 540Is as well and I didn't see anything below $35k for a lower mileage 2000 model. But I believe these were cpo'd cars. I wouldn't buy one without it, especially, if it's an automatic.

Another thing to think about a Lexus with 80K miles is that it is close to 90K mile service. Lexus dealer here charges $700. Timing belt and water pump is an additional $850. You may consider paying an extra $1500-$2000 for another GS400 with lower mileage.
