Default 5 Year Design Life Cycle?

I thought Lexus typically does a 5 Year Design Life Cycle for their cars? For instance, here's the ES300 Design path:

Lexus ES300 Model Cycle
1992-1993 New Model
1994-1996 Refresh
1997-1998 New Model
1999-2001 Refresh
2002-2003 New Model
2004-2006 Refresh
2007-2008 New Model
2009-2011 Refresh

But it looks like they stretched the latest GS (1998-2003+) to a 6 or 7 year.

I wonder why????????

Ay ideas??????????

Well, not always......for instance: SC (1st gen) 1991 - 2002.............and then, of course, there's the LandCrusher derived LX...............depends on demand/sales, as nearly as I can tell.

I personally think that with the GS positioned against the BMW 5-series, and MB E-class, Lexus is waiting for both of those to be released and "on the street" before unveiling the next gen GS.......
