I have a simple 2JZ-GE, I was experimenting with the manual mode and a buddy of mine told me if I were to downshift at about 45-50 MPH, I would generate more power and help get my times up, win races, etc. So before I had done this, I obviously took my traction control off with sports mode on also. Then my 0-60 was only about 9.1-9.3 consistently. Tonight I had tried the downshifting to 4th, and it made a huge difference. My 0-60 tonight roughly about 8.1-8.3. Is this logical or am I just tripping *****?

 

You downshifted to fourth to get your 0-60 times to increase? I vote "tripping *****".

On a side note, glad to see a phrase that was popular while I was in college is still hip
today among adolescents.

 

I was going by what my friend who is supposedly a car buff said. I'm just not going to listen to him anymore. Just the other day, he basically said "screw the 2JZ, swap for an LS." I'm done with listening to him lmao.

And yes, it's pretty common around where I live. I say it quite a bit lol.
