Default Help High Idle!!!!

i cleaned the throttle body with throttle cleaner and wiped it down ......
Now the car idles at 2000rpm.
When I put it in Drive or Reverse it drops to 1000rpm.
No check engine light on, drives fine when I'm coming to a stop the car kind of wants to keep going because it's high rpm.
What can this be?

Did you check the spark plugs and air intake? It's weird because the car is supposed to idle higher in P than it does in D. When does the car idle at 2000 RPM?

It's normal that the car idles higher in P and N than it does in R and D, but it's not supposed to be 2000 RPM and 1000 RPM. When my engine is warmed up it does around 800 RPM in P and N and around 500 RPM in R and D. Does your GS idle this high with a cold engine, or when it's warmed up?

I would check the spark plugs and the air intake as soon as possible!

How did you clean the Throttle Body? Did you remove it? You use Throttle Body Cleaner?

Did you move the TPS?

I did remove the throttle body cleaned it and put it back together. At first after putting everything back the idle would fluctuate up and down after a while it went away now it just has that high idle I've been driving it all day today.

Is it a gs300 or gs400. I'm gonna assume 300 since I saw you on another thread. Is the throttle cable reinstalled right? Did you move the TPS sensor? That will change idle.

have you disconnected the battery so that the computer will relearn with the cleaner throttle body?

Sounds like you have an air leak. Spray some carb cleaner around the gasket and see if that affects the idle speed.

If that doesn't work, I would get a scanner that indicates TPS settings. Just a code reader won't do this though
