Long time member need help with car bogging/dying while driving, SRT intake
Hey CL members,
Car was running perfectly fine. I recently put my SRT intake on again after smog and that's when problems started occurring. I have done this a total of 3-4 times in the past since I've had the car and never had problems.
Initially right after install car was acting up and would not want to start (threw codes). I finally got it to start and it seemed fine. This morning when I went for a drive, the car bogs slowly when accelerating. It wont rev past 3-4k and I have to drive it in manual mode to get it to rev past 3-4k or feel somewhat normal. While driving, the car completely died at a red light. In order to start it up again I had to give it gas and constantly keep the foot on the gas or else the engine would cut out. What is going on?!
Checked all wiring was good (NO CEL, starts up fine)...
Reset ECU without any luck (some people say the ECU needs to relearn when you install a intake?)
Checked MAF to see if properly plugged in and not backwards

Make sure you installed the maf the right direction. I seem to recall similar symptoms when I put mine on backwards once.
edit, just reread your post and said you checked. Guess I'd suggest checking twice . Make sure all the connectors and seals are tight... Sounds like extra air getting in.

Good to see you both still around here (:
I will try out both and report back tomorrow in the afternoon.
Edit: saw this thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...lem-gs430.html
posted by another member here on CL , problem sounds very similar to mine except I do not get a CEL.
This thread also sounds similar to my problems https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...blem-help.html

Doesnt hurt to blow some smoke though it to find a leak somewhere. I dont know how the intake is on the 430, but any hoses going into the tube, follow them to the block and see if the nipples on the block cracked during the removal. I spoke on this similar issue in another thread that I had and found that the nipple broke off where the vapor hose goes back into the resonator.
