My 1998 GS 400 (115,000 miles on vehicle) has a brake booster screech when applying brakes,especially when outside temp is cold. Screeching noise is usually quite short in duration and often goes away after driving for an extended time. I understand a new unit is quite expensive and is labor intensive to install. I'd like to know what options exist for repair. Also what would be expected if I just drive the car as is and wait until the pump fails to address the problem.

Been driving mine with that noise for like 5-6 years now. Now it happens all the time... Havent had a problem

Yeah its expensive since they decided to cram everything in that one part. To replace it is not that hard however.

I'm actually on my 2nd BMC. You can go with a junkyard one 98-00 model or upgrade to the 01-05 in which they improved it, but you need to move over the oil pressure sensor. There is a sponsor named Aliga that you can message and get it from. I was able to get someone to rebuild mine.
