My guess, 25. But obviously, it depends on where you live, and the going rate. Check autotrader and edmunds for ideas.

My credit union's black book shows the following retail and trade-in prices so private party price probably will be between the retail and trade-in prices.

retal prices:
extra clean: 25,575
clean: 25,225

trade-in price:
clean: 21,760

$25,000? Lets get real. My local dealer has 99 with 15k miles for $28k. Do you want to know how long he had this car? It was on his lot for 7-8 months. I looked at this car, and it is in perfect condition: no scratches, perfect leather, all options.

If you want to sell this car, you need to look at going rates on E-bay. Many think it is a weird place, but it represents real prices that people are paying for these cars. Based on the condition of this car and high mileage, I think it is worth between $19-$22k. The mileage is very high for this kind of car. You can check autotrader, but you need to call those people and find out how long they were selling their cars. In my area, there are many 98 and 99 cars with 70-80K miles. I looked at few of those cars, and sellers tell me that nobody comes to see these cars. People are afraid of high mileage Lexus. Somebody who has $25K to spend will rather buy a car with 40K miles than a car with 80K miles for $21.

I
