Car shudders?
Hello everyone! This is my first time in here. I usually hang out in www.corvetteforum.com and know little about this car, but this seems like a really good place and you guys will probably have me modding the GS in no time.
Ok, here is the problem I am having. When I am going about 55-60 and let off the gas, it shudders or jerks a little. It seems like it is trying to figure out if it should be in overdrive or not. Not exactly sure what it is doing. I took it in for service twice now. The first time I took a tech for a test drive and he felt it a little. they reset the computer, but it still does this. The second time they had the car for two days, but I am not sure that they did anything to the car. They told me that they have another one on the lot and it does the same thing. I brought this car last year used (pre-owned cert.) and it didn't do it then. Is this common? What could it be?
Thanks

Welcome to CL!
Where does the car jerk? The front end? Any sounds accopany the shift?
- Warped rotors?
- Tire(s) out of round
- Tire(s) at improper pressure
- Transmission slipping?
- Suspension component failing (bushing, shock, spring, etc.)
- Bad road?

I definately isn't any of those. It is something mechanical. I think it may be the transmission. The whole car shakes for half a second or so, not from a particular location. No noise or anything. Transmission slipping maybe. I don't think it is slipping, but more trying to figure out what gear it want to be in and in that process it shakes a bit.

Lead Lap
my bet
My bet is that it's a wheel balance issue. The GS is very sensitive to proper whel balance and the shudder can be more severe during speed changes. Start there.
