Corp Lexus better shape up!
I just pickup a new copy the the Road and Track June, 2003. It looks like now days.. all the cars can beat GS in 0-60.... A 5.8 Sec factory 0-60 is old news.....
What's up with that corp lexus!
We need a bigger hp GS. Not ur average 300HP.
Even Cad CTS-V can kick our butt. A 4 door lexuary car... with Corvette Z06 Engine. Killer machine.
I need a faster Lexus...
Just quickly glanced at the magazine..... WTF... almost every car in that magazine will kick my GS butt...

I am glad to see there is progress by other car manufactures to realize there there are consumers out there that like performance. GS400 came out in 97 with 300HP and six years later I am still waiting for a 4-door American car with A/T than is faster and better built than the GS400. Caddy CTS-V is such ugly car. I havn't seen a CTS in my area for several months.

I have a 2003 GS430. If it was any quicker I could'nt handle it. My golfing buddy just got rid of one of those little Cadillac's. He said it was pure junk. Like most common sence people know there is a lot more to a fine automobile than just speed.

There's been a journalist backlash to the big hp wars the luxury marques seem to be involved in. When you think about it, do most luxury car owners really worry if their car is .2 seconds quicker in the 1/4 mile than a competitor? I don't, then again, I own a GS300

yea but that's the thing, it has been 6 years and they didn't even tweak anymore horsepower out, they upped it to a 4.3 liter and still kept the HP the same, which is BS as far as im concerned, I think everyone would be very satisfied to have a 350hp GS, that would have kept it really up there, no one is asking for the GS to be the fastest car but u want to have a car that satisfies all of ur needs, I love the GS body styling as much if not more then the next guy but I can tell u this if Lexus doesn't make the next Gen GS like I hope they do them im gonna be jumping to the E500 or hopefully E55 for my next car

Looking at the new E500 - 302HP
Looking at the new 545I 325HP
Looking at the A6 4.2 V8 300HP
Lexus does not have a M series or AMG etc to compare so lets forget about comparing the big 450-500hp machines.
So looking at the OLD A6 and the NEW BMW and MB, how far off is the OLD GS 430 with 300hp? Not by much to me.

The new GS doesn't necessarily need to win the silly horsepower war. But Lexus should offer a manual transmission option for both the 6 and 8 cylinder GS even if they don't expect to sell many of them
It will enhance its image as a true sports sedan to enthusiasts who truly enjoy driving(look at 5 series frequently mentioned in reviews and comparisons as the only in its class to have stick shift).
To purists, it's still a "pretend sports car" without a manual transmission nomatter how powerful it is.
