GS300 - P0441 and P0446, Front Purge Valve Testing
On the 2000 GS300, for the past three years, I've had the P0441 and P0446 code stay away for a while after clearing the codes. They would eventually come back, but I was able to keep it under control. Now they come back immediately after clearing the codes and the GS needs to pass smog.
I've tried replacing the gas cap, replacing the VSV in the rear near the fuel tank, inspect vacuum lines for cracks (replaced 4 that I thought had possible hairline cracks), performed cigar smoke test (found no smoke leaking), and inspected rim of fuel tank where fuel cap gasket touches fuel tank for rust (no rust). Codes still come back.
I just learned there is a front purge valve near the top of the engine. I tested it with a 9V battering for clicking, and there is no clicking. I've read on other CL threads that this is the correct way to test the rear VSV, but is this the correct way to test the front purge valve? Since there is no clicking, is my front purge valve faulty and most likely the cause of the codes? I'd like to be sure before I order a new front purge valve one as it's $130 part, https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts/...910-12188.html
Thanks in advance!

Theres two evap valves in the engine bay. One that connects to your air intake that allows air to the evap system. And another that purges the evap vapors into the engine. When the engine bay heats up it causes higher resistance in those solenoid valves. Sometimes when you pull them out to test them, they will click, but the trick is to use a power probe and repeatedly click them upwards of twenty times to see if it drops out after a bit. But yes, if the valve doesn't click when voltage is applied to it than its bad.

Thanks for the replies.
I replaced the front purge valve and it solved both my P0441 and P0446 codes! Its been two weeks now and the codes have not come back.

Swapping out that and the one on the charcoal canister fixed my 441 + 446 CEL error

Oh man if anyone replies to this, that would be a life saver!
I too have these 2 codes on my car for sometime now. Trying to get it fixed, because now the A/c inside the car is suffering... (The blower/fan goes from on to off, while driving and its driving me insane.) Could this be because of a fuse?
Recently in an effort to get the check engine light off, and to revitalize the car I replaced one of the O2 sensors (Bank 2 sensor 1), replaced the PCV valve (new grommet, and new connecting hose -12261-46051- ), new gas cap, and cleaned the MAF sensor. What would people advice?
Thank you in advanced for any replies.
Also is the PCV valve and hose in the correct orientation?

I am in the same boat here with the codes on my 03GS300, I can clear them and then they eventually come back. Looking forward to how this can be resolved.
