it has turned on for the third time, what should I do?

 

The gas cap is the best case scenario. In most cases its the valve on the charcoal canister under the gas tank, search the codes, its been reviewed and even has a DIY on the repair.

 

I've had the same code for months. "Evaporative Emission System Vent Control Circuit".. More than likely the valve.

 

In my case, it was a broken rubber tube between the fender and the engine where the tube runs under the engine cover.

 

I am gonna utilize this thread to specify.

My codes are coming on very shortly after I put gas in.
Then I can drive most/all of the tank without it coming back on.
I have already swapped the filler cap.
Would this trigger the valve sensor or do I have a leak in the filler neck?

 

I replaced the almost 20yr old gas cap today. Probably didn't solve anything but its worth replacing.. I could tell the rubber was worn compared to old one and when i took the old off i didn't really hear any suction noise...
