How easy or difficult are we talking about changing an oil pan gasket on a 2002 lexus gs 300

They use FIPG to seal the pan to the block. Its quite involved ro redo it........easier if the engine is out of the car because the trans will have to be unbolted as well!

IIRC, the sub-frame is in the way of like one bolt (thus the reason to lift the engine just a bit. Should only have to remove the motor mounts to raise the engine just enough to get a wrench in there, no need to unbolt the tranny. The actual hard part is scraping off ALL the old FIP gasket, its tedious, but a must. If you dont get it all, you wont get a good seal when you apply the new gasket. Many have used a dremel tool to remove it, but need to be careful not to gouge a dent on the block.

Want the easy way out? Clean the hell out of the edges where the block and pan meet, and I mean clean the HELL out of it Get some black silicone and pack away all around and make a good seal

There are two oil pans, an aluminum upper and a steel lower.
Both are sealed with FIPG.
Depending where it is leaking from will determine the scope of the work.
