I read a response from years back about the 2001 IS300 engine being a direct install into 1998-2000 GS300. This was my understanding as well and I have had a 2001 IS300 engine waiting to go into my 1999 GS300. I pulled the GS300 engine today and the harness connectors seem to be the same except the IS300 engine harness does not have two plugs that go into two colored plastic holders that do not seem to hook to anything and a small black box that goes on the side of the engine bay marked "DIAG".

The other plugs seem to be the same on both harnesses.

I did not know if anyone might be familiar with these differences and whether they interfered with using the IS300 harness in my GS300.

Swap the harness over from the GS engine to the IS engine and youre golden.
