Nothing wrong with a 2GS with 220k, after all I have 228k on mine. Runs great. BUT, be sure and get the service records...you'll want to be sure the timing belt / water pump has been changed as well as regular maintenance. How is the interior?

To answer your question they should go for $4-5k.

I would pass. Yes, these cars are reliable and over 200,000 miles isn't HORRIBLE but you can find other ones with lower miles around 2500-3500. Like the previous guy said, gotta get the service records but I'd pass and just find one with lower miles.

alot of variables in play here when buying a car, you can buy a car for 2500 with 100k miles that only had 2 oil changes or buy a car with 200k for 2500 with extensive service history, its a crap shoot.

Take your $2,500 and double it, that's what his car needs (minimum) to be in good order. Better yet, take $5,000 and buy a fully documented, low mileage car.

I agree w/ Arcadian. The 430 is an awesome car, but you need a documented service history. If your budget is 2500, then don't buy a Lexus, buy a Toyota. Fewer bells and whistles to go bad and lower repair costs. The Solara SLE has a lot of bang for the buck including peppy v6, leather, and nice stereo.

If the timing belt/Water pump has ever been replaced, I say go for it. If you get 2 years out of it, you are only out 2k after junking/parting it out.

That is, unless you plan on DDing it for many miles a year.

If you DO need a DD for serious mileage, find a 3rd gen Avalon. That is just as fast and is more modern. Timing is a chain(s?), so you should not have to worry about that for a LONG time.

The 3.0s and 3.0s are peppy compared to the 4 cylinders, but not to a 2J or especially a v8. Unless the power is not an issue, I would stick with a 2J or the 3.5.

I couldn't recommend a car with that kind of mileage unless you're competent enough to work on your car yourself.
If you're not, you're going to be spending a lot on repairs.
If you are, maybe it'll be worth it.
