Please helpppp - should I buy?
I’m looking at a 2001 gs430 has about 220000 miles on it and the guy is selling it for 2500 seems kind of cheap to me even though it has high mileage don’t really know how much it should really go for can anybody give me some input pleaseee????

Nothing wrong with a 2GS with 220k, after all I have 228k on mine. Runs great. BUT, be sure and get the service records...you'll want to be sure the timing belt / water pump has been changed as well as regular maintenance. How is the interior?
To answer your question they should go for $4-5k.

I would pass. Yes, these cars are reliable and over 200,000 miles isn't HORRIBLE but you can find other ones with lower miles around 2500-3500. Like the previous guy said, gotta get the service records but I'd pass and just find one with lower miles.

I agree w/ Arcadian. The 430 is an awesome car, but you need a documented service history. If your budget is 2500, then don't buy a Lexus, buy a Toyota. Fewer bells and whistles to go bad and lower repair costs. The Solara SLE has a lot of bang for the buck including peppy v6, leather, and nice stereo.

exactly. dad and i spoke about this yesterday ironically enough. hard to decide.

If the timing belt/Water pump has ever been replaced, I say go for it. If you get 2 years out of it, you are only out 2k after junking/parting it out.
That is, unless you plan on DDing it for many miles a year.
If you DO need a DD for serious mileage, find a 3rd gen Avalon. That is just as fast and is more modern. Timing is a chain(s?), so you should not have to worry about that for a LONG time.
The 3.0s and 3.0s are peppy compared to the 4 cylinders, but not to a 2J or especially a v8. Unless the power is not an issue, I would stick with a 2J or the 3.5.
