Default Rim and tire size

I have a 2002 gs300 right now everything is stock. I want to lower it a little bit and put 18s on. What size wheels and tires would fit best?

245/40/18 front 275/30/18 rear. No problem with rubbing or uneven tire wear.

Would 18X8.5+35 or 38 work better with the 245/40/18s?

That's the recommended tire size for our vehicles running 18 inch staggered wheels.

245/40/18 18X8.5+38 will work in the front without spacers?
will the same rim size and offset work in the back?

LoL those lil ol' things? Oh yea... They'll fit! Sounds like off-the-shelf wheels . They'll fit and be sunken pretty deep too. Might want to throw some 255's on them to make them look pretty and fill the gap at the very least.

The gap would be filled by it being lowered are you saying the tire should be wider? What offset of rims would you suggest?

Heres your best bet:

http://www.rimtuck.com/search/thumbnails&make=Lexus&model=GS&yearfrom=1998&yearto=2005&sort=1

Too many threads about wheels, its best to search both here on CL and the above link. Rimtuck is your best bet because it has all the offsets and fitments WITH pictures. Check out each pic and find what you like.

Also look at the other size wheels like the 19s and 20s, the offsets will look the same, just not the large diameter .

As for the gap, I'm talking about the horizontal gap, not the vertical gap.

Dude, read the wheel and tire thread. All the answers to the questions you've asked so far are there. All of them.

In my opinion, most styles in 18's look funny on a gs300.... I had 18 before on air and I didnt like it. I went 19 and it filled the wheel well a little better. Now I want to get 20, but nothing bigger than 20. You have to do a lot of thinking when putting on wheels. Take your time and dont rush it just cause you want wheels. Know what you want before buying.

I would recommend 19s. Im running 19x8.5 in front and 19x9.5 in rear. A safe amount of offset would be anywhere from +35 to +45.
