P0441 & p0446

It's time that you replace all the underhood hose you can get to easily. Those hoses look severely aged, at least 2 cracks are visible in your picture. The correct diameter hose from PepBoys or Advance Auto will do, that's what I did.
Well apparently after doing a thorough check under my hood I found that this was disconnected
I
can only imagine how many more MPG’s I would’ve gotten on my trip to Florida
I reconnected it & reset the codes
lets see how it all works out
I purchased the purge valve for the carbon canister but hopefully won’t have to replace it

I replaced the PCV valve hose after I put up this post. The first pic in this thread I replaced a few weeks back. You are absolutely correct with replacing them now & it was as easy as any job could be

446 with a 441.
446 (vent control malfunction) IS the VSV on the canister, purge valve (in your case) is stuck closed. This causes a build up in pressure and it has to release SOMEwhere... So where? Its weakest link, which was that hose you found. You may want to check the driver side firewall, theres a hose there that likes to come off too...
441 (incorrect purge flow, basically meaning its being purged from the wrong area) is caused because of that hose(s) that came off and is purging through there rather than the vsv
The only fix is swapping that valve. .

Do these indicate a similar culprit as you described above, the VSV?

I just think it's funny that people were posting that they replaced hoses when Mr Jokster said that having the two codes boils down to the purge control valve above the charcoal canister. I have this same problem and I'm hoping that I can do the whole job in one morning.

Wow Louie, 5 year old thread and you reply within a minute, that deserves an achievement or something.
But actually, I was reading up on P0441 and P0446 threads as I have the same codes every now and then, so I figured I try giving it another shot one of these weekends.
Mr. Jokster is correct that there is a valve above the charcoal canister (at least in the GS400). What I found is that there seems to be a good amount of confusion as to how many EVAP purge/control valves there are. If you look at other threads on this forum, one in particular (maybe others too), they say that the charcoal canister valve is the only one. But there is also an EVAP valve in the engine bay which may be worth the time to replace since it's easier to access. The engine bay EVAP valve is bolted onto the intake manifold on the right side. I've attached pictures of the parts, because I can't take pictures of their exact location right now.
I was planning on making a new thread to address the confusion as well as re-state a possible solution to the P0441 P0446 double whammy combo, but I think your sharp reply time is a sign to just put it all in this appropriately-titled thread (which also has Mr Jokster addressing an important reminder about fixing the cause of the problem, not the effects).

There aren't many videos on YouTube or threads on the internet on replacing the EVAP valve on the charcoal canister, unfortunately. There was one person that talked about replacing the valve on their GS 400, but I'm too lazy to go digging. I can say that I have heard other people say you can change the valve on the charcoal canister without dropping the axle, like Mr Jokster said. If I do it before you, I'll share it in here.

I was surprised to get a response 5 years later lol
I saw a video on YouTube where the rear crossmember (correct me if I’m wrong) or frame support was removed for access to the rear canister valve
I did replace the one on the engine as well as the hose
I am going to do a smoke test to look for leaks along the hoses as well

I guess if you have the same email then you still get notifications but a 1 minute delay in reply is pretty freaking fast.
I’m not sure what exactly needs to be dropped for access but dang you replaced the valve in the engine and still have the codes? That sucks, but it must be the canister valve.

I haven’t done the job just yet
I do need to replace another hose under the engine cover shaped like a small U
I'm almost positive I have a leak there I want to address 1st & hopefully it’s my culprit
