Last night I was on the turnpike doing about 60mph in "D" and decided to shift into M4 getting up to 100mph and then shifting to M5 when I got to about 120mph the car started to shutter. I dont believe I was even redlining just yet. Is this normal in manual? I know in the past in "D" I have been able to go over 120mph. Dont get me wrong I normally dont drive this fast but there was nobody on the turnpike and I was curiousto see what the car could do. I am sure most of you have had this speed deamon attack. But seriously has any one experienced speed limits when in manual versus in D?

Doesn't sound like the 149 mpg electronic speed limiter you ran into, it sounds like the rev limiter. You get that in any gear when you hit close to the redline. If you'd tried to down shift just a little later at a higher speed (above readline), it wouldn't have let you and would have given you a 'beep beep beep' warning.

You had to be in 4th cause that is when 4th gear about runs out of gas. I know 3rd ends at 96-98mph.
M vs D, there is no difference in top speed. In D, when the car approaches the 6250 readline, it shifts for you up to the speed limiter of 149mph (though I have had mine at 152mph)and in M YOU have to upshift to the next gear when the redline approaches, otherwise, it will revv and the car won't go any faster.

Say your cruising at 100mph for a long period of time...would you be in overdrive(5th gear0?
What about 120...what grear?
then about anything faster....would your car still kick back in overdrive?
In the 4Runner I drive is has a button to turn off OD(overdrive).
I use it pass or to slow down or on mountain roads? With the button off it doesnt shift in to OD or 4th gear?
So say i was in od cruising on the freeway in G430 auto and I put it into 4th would i gain that extra punsh?
would it help for passing or should I floor it?
