2000 Lexus GS300
Hello, I知 sorry if I知 posting this in the wrong section of this board. I am considering buying a 2000 GS300. I am wondering if there痴 any concerns I should have, particularly in regards to safety and high mileage. The car I am looking at has 206k miles. If anyone could give me some information that would be great. Thank you

make sure the radiator has been replaced, the engine likes to leak oil at that age unless the seals are replaced, make sure everything functions sunroof, door lock actuators tend to go out on these cars, tilt steering wheel, memory seats, etc.

High mileage is usually not a problem if the maintenance has been done. Be sure the timing belt / water pump has been changed and suspension components are good. These cars will run forever with proper maintenance.

I am so envy you guys can purchase that old cars, in China, normal car life is 15 years, or 600K km, after that the car must be discarded. So there is no such consideration to buy a 2000 year made, it's 18 years old and it must in next life circle in China.

Don't know much about the 2JZ specifics, but here's stuff that has needed attention on my GS400 that I got with 153k miles... the owner took decent but not stellar care of it.
- Lower #2 control arms (caster arms) - check bushings. Causes a 60 MPH+ shimmy usually.
- Upper control arms are worn on mine. Not cheap for OEM ($400+ a side).
- Lower ball joints - should be on its third set by now.
- Transmission fluid - frequent changes? Color?
- Engine mounts - vibration while stationary in drive? I don't know about the 2JZ, but the 1UZ should be TOTALLY vibration free with good mounts.
- Timing belt service up to date.
