Default What oil is everyone running?

Just wondering on what oil everyone is running, I have a 1999 Gs400 with about 25k on a complete engine rebuild. I was using Mobil 1 5 30 then i recently switched to Rotella T6 5 40.
I heard Rotella switched their formula, so i was thinking about going to German Castrol 5 40?

Continue using 5w30.
What's your OCI?

yeah i was doing that but was looking for a more heavy duty oil just because, not worries about efficiency or mileage, or "bad for the environment" just looking for something that can stand heat and prolong to breakdown.

LEX_GS4,
At 5K OCI you should be way more than fine with any well-known 5w30 "full" synthetic, specially in Cali-- I don't know where u r located but even if it's SoCal--.
Remember, this is what Lexus recommends in places like Dubai, although they may use 10w30.
In fact, you should be ok with regular dino oil.

I use Castrol 5w30 dino oil. Change every 4k miles or 3 months, whichever comes first. Car has about 240K miles on it.

I used 5W30 Mobil 1 high mileage my last change just because I had it sitting around, but may go to Pennzoil synthetic blend or a quality dino oil next time. The 1UZ in my GS400 doesn't really seem to care much what I use. Go over to bobistheoilguy if you'd like to drive yourself crazy with discussions on types and OCIs. Blackstone reports also are great for those of us who are **** about this kind of thing. I always get at least an annual report.

77k on my 300, I always use fully synthetic 5w-30. Most of the time I'm buying Mobil (for no particular reason) but if there's a deal on Castrol or another name brand I'll pick that up instead. Typically change around 5k miles or when the oil is becoming black/thin.

I've also been draining and filling the trans oil while I'm doing the engine oil. ~2.2 qts of Toyota Type IV ATF per flush. IIRC it takes about 10-12 cycles for the trans oil to be totally changed out.

I been running 5w30 Valvoline high mileage synthetic blend on my Lexus GS300 with 148K on it. When I used full synthetic on my old 98 GS300 with 183K on it, it started leaking oil in spots it never did before with just conventional Pennzoil motor oil.

Anyone running magnetic oil drain plugs? I am installing one on my next oil change but I keep one installed on my Supra. For the small amount of metal it picks up, I really do like having one installed.

5K oil changes with Valvoline 5W-30 Full Synthetic and a K&N or Purolator Boss filter. Oil is generally "clean" looking on the dipstick all the way up to the 5k change.

Really? Does not matter if the base oil is from group 3 stock, group 4 stock, or even group 5?

thanks everyone, when i get to 3k on this rotella, im going to try to submit results to black stone and ill repost.

Just want everything to be fine ill suffer with efficiency as long as i can have more protection on the engine.

Like i said i did a complete rebuild with all new bearings, rings, and everything except major components, (pistons, rods, cams, crank) everything else is basically new.
