Default Popping sound when turning

I have a weird popping sound when the car goes over bumps and when turning, just changed the lower ball joints and the tie rod ends, sound wasn’t there before i changed them out. They were greased after i put them on, i looked under the car while a friend turned the steering wheel back and forth and got a popping sound and after a little while a whining sound. Could it be the rack and pinion arms? I know when i did the ball joints they got turned a bit as I couldn’t break the tie rod end free the first couple try’s. The moog ball joints also had some sort of weep hole on them is that normal?

Most likely your struts, possibly the mounts and/or both.

It could also be that your lower ball joints have not been tightened down enough but that would be apparent as soon as you start driving after replacing the ball joints. Also if the hole is on the top that's a zerk fitting to grease the ball joints. If you grease then every once in a while you'll increase their life span

The hole is on the rubber boot itself, once the ball joint started getting grease in it some grease came out of it. Had my friend turn the steering wheel again this morning and saw that the steering rack had some play, could the bushings cause the popping sound? Also jacked the car up with both tires in the air and then took the wheel off to try and locate the sound and the sound went away.

I had the same pop in my front passenger side , I think it’s strut mounts cause as I was raising the car I heard the pop n after that the pop is gone after raising about 3/4 of an inch on BC Coils

I get that pop when driving intermittently, Like Mr. Jokster said I think it is my struts. I'm probably just going to get coil overs and replace them one time, hope no major damage can occur until then.... right now it is just noise!

Check your upper control arm inner mounts, I have found one of mine for some reason pops, it is as if the bolt is too small for the sleeve in the bushing/vice versa (I am running aftermarket OEM replacement arms)

What brand are you running? I am running the "MEVOTECH CMS86105 and CMS86104" from RockAuto and they are very heavy duty with a greasable fitting too.

The noise seems to disappear and come back every blue moon just been living with it, it seems to be more when turning more than anything. I ordered new steering rack bushings along with upper control arms from rock auto. Hopefully it fixes the issue.

Had the same popping sound especially when I back out of the garage! Thought it was the lbjs but that wasn't it.. My mechanic said it was the sway bar.. As soon as they come in he will install it... Lets hope that fixes it

Went to dive the car today and found that the power steering was whining, popped the hood and found it was very low. looks like the power steering pump is leaking from a little circular looking thing atop of it. Going to leave the car parked there till the weekend then either change the power steering pump or go cheap and buy some lucas stop leak for it.

never put nothing that says stop leak bro .. just save and change the pump .. the thing where’s it’s leakimg from should be able to tighten if I’m not mistaken , try tightening it ..

Yeah was leaning more towards changing it out never been a fan of snake oils, it looks like it has a Allen wrench fitting to tighten. Will give it a try later on today as it’s currently pouring rain here.

Going to have to leave the car parked for a little over a week, my company is flying me out to North Carolina for some business. I did however order a new power steering pump from rock auto that will be here this upcoming week. Also this damn storm that passed by did some wicked hail damage on my hood, the list keeps on growing with things I have to fix.
