Thumbs up 2000 Lexus GS300 - How much should I sell it for?

I have a Black/ Black leather GS300 with 68k miles. Everything works. Upgraded to 2001 GS400 Chrome OEM Wheels with like new Michelin Pilots.

Exterior 7/10. Some scratches, nothing major.
Interior 8/10. no rips.overall good condition

Changed radiator 67k miles
Just did timing belt at 65k miles
Changed rear brake pads OEM at 63k miles

How much should I sell this for as I am planning to move out of Baltimore, MD?

Each state is a little different but just to give you some insight on what I bought, about a year ago I picked up a '01 GS300 Silver/Black with 168k miles. It had just been gone through by the quick lot dealer to get it ready for sale....these are what I remember off the top of my head. New timing belt/water pump, spark plugs/wires, valve cover gasket, serpentine belt, new ball joints upper/lower, trailing arm bushings, control arms, ABS speed sensor, front/rear brakes, 4 new tires w/alignment, oil and filter, hood struts, battery, and a few other hoses I don't remember about. I paid $5,500 for it which was technically on the higher end but I felt good about it with all the stuff that was done. Otherwise it probably would have been more like $2,500 - $3,000 car.

What I had to fix afterwards was 2 door actuators, a new stereo and speakers, floor mats, some tail light bulbs, cabin filter, and ended up needing some new coil packs/coil pack clips and upgraded to Iridium plugs while I was at it. I did all that work myself and have maybe $6k in it total but the car runs great.

I got this for my 16 yr old's first car and I hope to find something similar in that price range next year when my middle son starts driving.

I would pay $6,000-6,500 for a car like that, more if it has full service records. As previously mentioned it depends on the state you are in and the demand for the vehicle. My GS400 isn't for sale (and they are getting harder and harder to find in excellent condition), but if it was I would charge a premium because I have all service records and 90% of those are from the dealer. Since a well taken care of 2GS pretty much runs forever you can still find good examples over 100k for $5,000...hence why I would start with a little more for yours since it has low mileage. Do some research on Cars.com or Autotrader.com and you'll get a ballpark of what you can list yours at.

Whatever you do don't go by KBB...their numbers can vary by a wide margin and don't necessarily tell you what the value is in your area. For example, KBB is about $9,500 for my SC430 but I would never sell it for that. I looked and looked and finally purchased the car in FL and had it shipped to NC. Total price was $11,800. I wouldn't sell the car for less than $13,000 and I've had it for a year mainly because you simply can't find good examples here. So keep that in mind.

Thanks for the input guys and I will considering the following when I plan to sell in October this year. Probably will have around 70k at that time as it is my daily commuter.

I sold a 71,000 mile '03 GS 300 privately last January. It was white/tan with very good service records (among other things, TB changed twice!). Some of the body had been repainted, but it still presented well. Interior was mint. Stock wheels were not in the best of shape. It drove superbly and needed no repairs. Listed it on Autotrader.com. Buyer drove from Georgia to Ohio to pick it up and paid the $6000 asking price without quibble.

I just bought my 2000 GS300 with 130k from a private seller in king of Prussia, PA. Listed for 3200 with cosmetic damage and a normal valve cover leak. I got it for 2900. New valve cover gasket, spark plugs (which turned out to be pretty new), radiator, serpentine belt and enkei wheels with fresh nankang tires, tightened the throttle cable, and high, low and fog light bulbs. All in all I'm about 3300 deep into her with 1000 miles since I bought her. I just took her on a 350 mile round trip with the family and she did superb!
