Default Nitrogen Accumulator Replacement DIY

Hi,
since i couldn't find a lot of details on how to replace the accumulator and apparently most people replace the entire abs unit / master cylinder, i just tried if it worked...according to the information i found on the diy's for the sc400, it would be more complicated.
However, here's what i did.
Since there is not enough space to either use a tool or pull the accumator out, the entire abs unit has to be removed. however, this is not a big job.

You will need
New or serviced accumulator
New O-Ring (toyota #90301-13014)
1/4" ratchet, 14mm socket, swivel and/or extension
strap wrench or motorcycle clutch holder
dot 4 or dot 5.1 brake fluid (i used around 1 Liter, since i swapped to 5.1)
brake bleeder tool or just a piece of hose

1 With ignition off, pump the brakes around 40 times to remove pressure from the system.
2. with a syringe remove all the fluid from the reservoir
3. remove the lower dash panel, (2 philips screws and some clips), twist the bulb to remove it from the housing, and unclip the obd port
4. remove the pin that connects the brake pedal with the master cylinder, (i also removed the connector from the brake pedal switch, since the unhooked pedal was resting on the switch and activating the brake lights.
5. remove 4 14mm nuts under the dash, that hold the master cylinder in place
6. under the bonnet, remove hydraulic lines and connectors, once all the lines are loose, push the hydraulic lines away and pull the unit out.
7. Once the unit is out, remove the remaining fluid from the reservoir
8. Armed with a strap wrench or motorcycle clutch holder tool, remove the reservoir from the abs unit, replace the o-ring.

From here on, installation is reverse of removal.
- Install the new reservoir
- Install the abs unit in place
- Reinstall hydraulic lines and connectors
- Reinstall 4 14mm nuts and pin that connects to the brake pedal
- Refill Reservoir up to the top (not maximum yet, since we will still have to bleed the system...)
- Put the Ignition on and wait until the motor stops, then shut the ignition off.
- Put the car on jackstands and bleed all 4 brakes, starting from right rear.

My car operates the abs pump now much less than it did before, before replacement i could hear the pump every 2-3 minutes. My car is an 01 GS 430 with 270t kilometers (~169 t miles)

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...placement.html

or even the thread, you missed, where it originally shows people how to do this ( i asked like 8 times for a mod to sticky this one but the powers to be on here have never listened) Start at post #42

My 0.02, when I bled my brakes I got nothing out when I started at the rear and worked forward. When I did it again, I started at the front left and worked backwards and got lots of fluid from all that time.
