My car is up in Canada right now for sale..It is 98 GS400 fully loaded not to mention Nav system...
This Nav system is right now pain in my butt because this Nav is only good for US area
I have this person wants to buy my car off me but told me to fix this to work in Canada..
Does anybody know I can get a different chip that works in Canada? I'm sure they is ,then where can I get that serviced??
Another problem is my CD changer is busted up somehow this guy need a Diagram for 98 GS400 6 stock changers in order to put a different CD changer which I don't have..
So if you know somebody is selling stock CDchanger with wires or has Diagram Let me know ASAP
Thank you !!!

You can't make a 98 nav system have Canadian maps - Lexus didn't offer this or a retrofit.

I don't understand cuz we can have 03 nav maps into 98 GS simply replacing chips at dealers right?
Then why can't we just replace the chip offered in 03 canadian model NAV map in 98 GS US model
I don't see why can't work..prove me if i'm wrong
Thanx for the input tho

There is no 'chip' to replace. The 1998 nav is hard drive based. The 2003 nav is DVD-based. Totally different media, different hardware, different software, different screen.
Yes, you can get an update for the HD-based nav, but they are pretty limited. I wouldn't expect Lexus to expand coverage in the older (more limited) technology for the older nav release when they no longer are selling it. Just improve maps in existing areas.
Good luck.

THE ONLY CD CHANGER THAT WILL WORK WITH THE NAV SYSTEM IS 86270-30150 THE PIONEER SYSTEM CHANGER. THE NAK SYSTEM CHANGER CANNOT EVEN BE USED. NO OTHER AFTERMARKET CHANGER CAN BE HOOKED UP TO THE SYSTEM. THE HEADUNIT ONLY READS THE SIGNALS FROM THE FACTORY CHANGERS COMPATIBILITY CHIP. NO OTHER CHANGER WILL WORK. SO A WIRING DIAGRAM WILL DO NO GOOD AS ITS NOT A QUESTION OF JUST WIRING INTO THE SYSTEM. REPLACING THE FACTORY CHANGER IS THE ONLY OPTION. THE NEWLY MARKETED AFTERMARKET CD CHANGER CHIP CHANGING ADAPTOR ALSO WILL NOT WORK ON A GS NAV MODEL RADIO EITHER. THERE IS NOT A 12 PIN CD CHANGER PORT ON THE BACK OF THE GS NAV RADIO. THE ADAPTER MAKING COMPANY ASSUMED ALL LEXUS HAVE A 12 PIN CD CHANGER PORT ON THE BACK OF THE RADIO WHICH IS NOT THE CASE IN THE GS MODEL.
