My 2004 GS300 is throwing the CEL codes P0441 and P0446. I am in a time crunch because I need to pass emissions before I can renew my registration. Is it true that the EVAP purge valve is near the gas tank, above the axle? Trying to avoid dropping an axle at all costs! Please advise.
Furthermore, any thoughts on resetting ECU prior to emissions testing? My CEL's will erase but I am unsure of readiness monitors and the system not being "ready."
Thanks

I would check for a cracked vacuum hose or loose gas cap first. It might be something simple. I just got my 2GS back from the shop where they disconnected the battery and told me to bring it back after driving for a while for the inspection. So I think you may need to drive yours for a bit after you figure out the problem.

Start with the basics, look for broken or cracked EVAP hoses in the engine compartment, where it's super hot and the 15 year old hoses are all hard and cracking. I found two broken ones in mine, and replaced all the EVAP hoses. Failing that, check the three VSV valves on the engine, simple tests. Only then should you move on to the charcoal canister and the valves in that area.
