Default Is this overpriced?

Good evening CL members. This is my first time joining a Club like this. I usually use this website to read and fix things on my wife’s 2007 GS 350.
So I am looking at a 2003 GS 430 with 169,xxx miles. It looks like it’s in great condition, good car fax, but I feel like the price is too high. Can anyone tell me if I’m wrong to think this way? Here is a link to the car...

Personally I would not pay more than 4.5k for this one but I guess the price is somewhat justified to be higher since it is at a dealer. It does look clean but just because it has been detailed, it could be hiding fluid leaks or unknown repairs that could have just been done recently which is why I like to see a dirty engine when I buy a vehicle so I know the true condition of it.

It's at the higher end of what these cars go for, but it's also at the higher end of what these cars came equipped with. This would have been a fully loaded model. The mileage is alright but not exceptional. I wouldn't hesitate to offer 5 and maybe go up to 5,5 if it's as clean as it ought to be. People are listing 300s and 400s for 3500-4500 regularly from what I see, but a lot of them are pretty worn.

Is there anything in particular to look out for with these cars? Especially with the mileage it has.

I notice that it doesn't have e-shift. Was that not available for the 430?

A sucker is born every day...don't be that guy. Everything is outdated on the car. I wouldn't spend more than $5k tops and that's out the door. In 20k miles, you'll spend $1k plus to change the timing belt, pulleys, thermostat, vc gaskets, spark plugs, etc. I'm in Houston and I can guarantee no one is spending $7k for a car that outdated and 15 years old.

The condition doesn't look too bad but without a record of the TB/WP change you'd have to consider that cost (can be upwards of $1k). So I would deduct $1k since you'll have to do that soon after purchase anyway.

The timing belt was done at 98,xxx and won’t be needed until 198,xxx. No crashes, clean 3 owner car.
I went yesterday to take a look and everything worked, nothing was wrong besides a dead battery that needed to be jumped. Sound system worked perfect for the age, Windows, ac, sunroof, lights too. Only off thing was this random air coming out of the ac? I’m going again today in about 7 hours to see where it was coming from. But the car was very well maintained compared to other older Lexus GS vehicles around my area or in Texas at that.

All of that work has been done. And it’ll be 30k miles which is in two years in my drive time. I will have more than enough within that time iA. And your last sentence is very opinionated. I’ve read many Club Lexus members purchase high mileage old Lexus cars for similar amounts of money. Plus, Houston has many older vehicles selling for the same money, but they’re all POS German vehicles. This is the only clean GS 430 in Texas for sale right now.

In that case I would seriously consider purchasing the vehicle. The interior looks really good for it's age, and as you know it's hard to find a 2GS with a well kept interior. The random air out of the A/C is probably a bad servo which is an easy fix with a little bit of work. Something tells me with regular maintenance you'll get many years out of this vehicle. Just passed 231k on mine and it shows no signs of stopping...

Well it looks like you have all the answers, why waste time posting here? Go spend $7k on an old GS...I don't care, it's your money.

Default Interesting Thread as I have one I'm trading/selling

I have essentially that car - Parchment white. Nav and Levinson. 17" wheels. 141K and all the dealer recommended service, timing belt, all the fluid flush and replace, etc. I think its in outstanding shape except for the wheels which are the stock chrome 7 spoke that feature bubbling chrome on both the sets I've had. Everything works, paint great shape, interior great too. This was my dream car when I got it Certified in '06 and it runs the same. It seems to me that it has to be worth more than it is which is certainly not near $7K, but that is an emotional reaction. There aren't many around which must be influencing price. I know if someone offered me $7K it would be gone in a heart beat.
