Default Low mileage GS300. Is it a good buy?

I'm in the process of buying a 99 GS300 with 64k miles. Seller wants $5800. Timing belt was changed at 52K. 2 owner car and dealer serviced. Clean carfax. Is this too good to be true, a fair deal or I shouldn't waste time and jump on it?

I just spoke with a woman with a 99 GS300 here in NC that had 47,000 original miles on sale for $4,995. Evidently it was owned by her father and after he passed they drove the car from FL to NC. So yes there good examples still out there. Of course, you will know from the condition when you see it in person and the service history. You may also want to have a separate inspection done yourself.

Btw, I passed on the vehicle because we currently have 3 Lexus vehicles and no where to park it! lol. But it was intriguing.

Having owned my GS300 for 20 years I say if it looks and drives good you should go for it.

Two caveats. $5,800 sounds like a heap of money for such an old car even in A1 condition. Secondly you need to be aware that although this is a great model, in-town fuel consumption is high by the standard of today's cars.

Lexus reputation for reliability is well-deserved and the Mark 2 GS is a fine example.

I wonder if it is an SE model - this would be with leather, a sunroof and as a further option, navigation.

Kevin. The UK models GS were non-SE and SE. 3 litre only.

The non-SE had alcantara seats, a synthetic suede which was really nice (alcantara costs as much per metre as leather) and no sunroof.

The SE had leather and a sunroof and was one of the first cars on the market with built-in navigation.
