Who cares if it has low mileage...will you acquire full coverage insurance for a 20 year old car? You could, but be prepared to pay a premium for an old car. If the car is involved in an accident, the insurance company WILL total the car out. What are your options at that point?
Like i said, compare it to what else you would buy for 10k. You get a basic-*** Corolla or something. Lame. A MK4 Supra is 2 to 3 times the price at least, it's not even the same ballpark. And that's mid-nineties.
Regarding insurance, that's up to OP to do their research.

Not to get too far off topic, but I really looked into getting an IS-F when deciding what I wanted to do a couple of years ago. I could have picked up early ones ('08-09) for wholesale cost below $20K through a dealer friend. Ultimately, I chose to keep my GS and mod it because the $10K difference can do a lot, excluding serious performance mods.

Another friend of mine bought an IS-F in 2008 and I loved it at the time, but it's lost some of its appeal to me over the years. The one time I had to sit in the back seat, I hated it. I'm used to coupes having afterthoughts for back seats, but the 2IS back seat is for fitting child seats only. Also, I can't get over the absolute mess under the engine cover or the unconnected exhaust tips.

Interesting discussion OP it will be up to you what you really want regardless of what is discussed here.

I have a 2000 GS400 it's almost at 200K I got it 3 years ago with 178K, I've taken care of a lot of maintenance items and it only left me stranded once due to ALT going out. Other than that it's been no major issues. I have a company car so the GS isn't a daily per say I go to gym, barber etc... avg just over 7K miles a year. I'm considering getting something else IS-F, GS460 or waiting for GS-F prices to come down more. Test drove friends IS-F loved it but if I had to choose I rather the GS-F I don't care much about IS-F being lighter and faster I have a 6 spd Supra making mid 8's at wheels that weighs 3200l bs to satisfy any need for speed. With that being said I do have a soft spot for the 2nd Gen GS even thought about doing a BPU GTE Aristo swap in my GS4 or just getting a GS3 and doing swap.

Either way good luck with your decision.

Everyone has their own opinion, if that is the car u were looking for get it, i know for sure u wouldn't regret. Once the service records checked out good and no accident i don't think u can go wrong. From the pictures it looks healthy. As for technology u will be better off as per repairs . Your only expense at this time would more likely be timing belt and water pump. I purchase a 2005 with 38000 miles two years ago and i did the tb and all moving components so i don't have to back there in a hurry. .the belt looked like new but because of age u need to replace..only problem i found driving around 80mph in the wee hours like 2am i would hear a slight wind noise from the driver door. Which i would take care of in the spring. My car do not c snow or the salt . It has no spec of rust. Im in new york..
If u like it buy it .

If you decide to purchased, get ready to shell out $1k plus for the timing belt, water pump, lbj's and crank/cam seals replacement. $11k for a 18 year old car...no way...even though it's a "rare" 430.

Don't make the mistake I made by buying a low mileage 2GS. I paid a premium in 2011 for a care that's barely worth $3-4K by KBB's standards.

enter the vin number into Lexus drivers. com to pull up the maintenance records done at Lexus.
unless you do the work yourself or know someone.
