Hello Folks,
So last Sunday I spilled coffee in the gear shift area. Since then the shifter is stuck on parking and I have to use a screwdriver to change the shifter. I opened the whole shifter base and cleaned it as mentioned in the other posts, but it’s not working. My brake lights are good, I changed the Radio2 fuse but it’s still the same. When I use the screwdriver to change the shifter, it doesn’t stay on D in the screen but directly goes to gear 4. I took it to a mechanic he blew the area with air and cleaned it more but still it doesn’t work. What could be the problem ? Thank you in advance guys I know it’s a lengthy post. Cheers

There is a solenoid that disengages when you press the brake pedal to allow the shifter to be moved out of park. If it has failed you will need to replace it. Also check to make sure the sensor on your brake pedal is working as well as if that fails the solenoid will not move
