Default Wont stay running after major service

So i bought a 00 GS300 with 120k the other week. been pouring oil from every front seal.

Replaced Timing belt, water pump, plugs, coilpacks, wires, valve cover gaskets , and the coil pack connectors
car ran before everything was done. have verified timing is correct on the crank pulley, the cam gears and the 1st cylinder with a long extension. cycled through it all several times

at first it would just crank over and over and not start.

it starts for a few seconds and then slowly putters out. ive tried unplugging the maf. wont even start. had a code but all my stupid scanner (trash) picks up is manufacturer control.
pretty sure its not timing, spark or fuel related cuz the damn thing DOES run but it shuts off within 5 seconds. oil level is where it should be. oil looks clean on the stick. fresh tank of premium fuel.
any ideas as to what kind of gremlin im chasing here and the size of the stick needed to beat his sorry *** into fixing my car?

Mine flips out anytime I disconnect the battery. Been wanting to try this video I saw on YouTube. You gotta mess with the gas pedal to get the car warmed up first though.

When you changed the coil pack connectors did you put the two wires in the right spot as they were removed on all 3 coil pack connectors? Also you have double checked all connectors on the engine harness you disconnected to make sure you re-plugged them in?

If the car ran fine before the job, its got to have to do with what you've done. Just carefully look everything over. Maybe you have the plug wires leading to the wrong cyls, left a sensor unplugged, something simple. How did you install the vvti sprocket? Theres that 30 degrees rotation to the left then back straight or whatever it is that you should see before setting the timing.

bought a better code reader. cleared everything and rechecked connectors again. checked timing for the 50th time. finally got somewhere and got a code for igniter. from what im reading its rarely the igniter and its more to do with wiring. gonna split the loom again and check all through the wiring for shorts.

anyone know offhand what gauge the wires are?

Maaaaaaaaybe: Check all your timing gear and see if you didnt chip any of the tooth. The vvti gear teeth for some reason are easy to chip. That can cause the timing to skip and you'll get a wont stay running or start. Here's a PDF just in case you missed something.

its a brand new VVT-i gear from toyota the timing gear is intact and in good condition. its not a timing issue.
Im going to attempt to identify the correct gauge of wiring in the harness and will run entirely new sections of wire to the harness near the cam gears where the majority of cracking was present. i had already gone through and isolated the wires, taped up any exposed areas.

Im assuming your igniter connector is plugged in when you tried starting it.

Can you check if you have power going to it with the key ON?

Did you damage the teeth on the crank trigger wheel? There is a brass retainer you must remove(1x 10mm bolt) before pulling the crank gear.

If there are no error codes, then it is the vacuum or idle control.

Check the piping and all rubber hoses.

So I have the same problem and still haven't figured it out. I am going to follow this and see what the answer is. The car starts idles perfect for 5 seconds and then dies. I have discovered if I spray engine starter in the intake it will stay idling as long as I want. I have read some other posts that describe a poor connection with one of the coil packs where the car will start but then fuel is cut out.

Here's an old post describing a similar problem. I don't know if that helps

Update on my situation.was for sure the coil pack connectors. I ran new lengths of 16g wire to the connectors and put it all back together. It started up fine. I was pretty hype. I put the top timing cover on and changed the oil.

Now it sounds like a donkey is trying to kick its way out of the block. No codes. Get pissed and for the 30th time tear off the intake, valve covers, coil packs, plugs, did a compression check (180psi across all six). At this point I'm trying to find a replacement harness. Maybe aftermarket but not too familiar with it so dunno if it would connect to my factory stuff without a standalone.

Anyway here's the video of when it ran fine for 5 minutes. I'm fed up with this thing.
