Homelink & Sunglass Holder
#33
This mod is great! I would like to do it but have some questions.
You mentioned you found a homelink visor on Ebay, did you buy the entire visor containing the homelink?
If so, did you use the homelink unit from your overhead console or the visor you bought on Ebay?
Can anyone provide instructions on how to remove the overhead console, seems like you replace the entire assembly with a new one containing the sunglass holder?
Thanks,

I bought a visor with homelink on ebay from an RX300, but only used the bezel/button surround. I relocated the homelink from the overhead consloe to the original GS400 visor.
Removing the overhead console is simple. Just use a small flat blade screw driver to pry the cover off the light and the cover off of the homelink unit. This will expose the four screws holding the overhead console.

Hi,
Have another question regarding the homelink installation in the visor. You mention removing the foam all the way through to the fabric. When installing the homelink unit in this space can you see the shape through the fabric? Seems like the visor material would not be smooth or hold it's shape. Can't tell from your pics, but it looks good. Also, how did you install the bezel? Glue?
Any additional pics of the homelink unit?
Thanks,

Part number of overhead console with sunglass holder is 81260-30240-A0. It is called a Lamo Assy, Map. This number is for for the ivory color with sunroof buttons.
You cut-through all the foam but leave the thick plastic lining behind the visor fabric. The thick lining keeps the homelink from sticking through the fabric.

Those stickers are easier than you think to remove. Just peel (obvioulsy). The residual glue can be removed with a product called "goof off". I picked some up at home depot for a couple of bucks. i did mine, and it looks like the stickers were never there.
BTW, real nice job onthe DIY. It looks great
