Default Bypassed Amp with aftermarket stereo and lost sound in my stock subwoofer

Hey all,

How do I get sound to my subwoofer after bypassing my amp with my aftermarket head unit? I have a 99 Lexus GS300.

Any help would be great.

Thanks!

You'll need to run an aftermarket amp to your factory sub or replace it all together.

Thanks for the reply.

Why can't I just use the RCA outputs from the aftermarket Head Unit, wire them to the stock sub and rewire the sub to get power from the stock amplifier?

Is that possible?

Because that's not how electronics works?

You could, in theory, try wiring from the HU to the factory amp, but I have no idea how that would work.

The factory amplifier can't be turned on by an aftermarket head unit.

Some would almost consider that a challenge...

The stock headunit has no sub-out and performs no crossover functions, the stock amp does that. The stock amp has no subwoofer input. Like others have stated, the stock headunit has a data connection to the amp to turn it on/off, volume control etc. No aftermarket headunit can duplicate this function so the stock amp can't be used with an aftermarket headunit.

Go for it. I'm sure nobody in the 21 years these cars have existed has tried before. Good luck.

this is what i did, took me an hour and sounds solid for what it is. Amp is $44. As a former mobile installer I was hesitant to buy a Dual amp, but reviews were good and it was bench tested with a reliable 200 watts RMS at @2ohm

I don't know if that Dual is still available.

But if you're connecting to an aftermarket deck and you still want to run the stock subwoofer with a little more power, consider jamming this in under the dash after you pull out the stock amp.
