Yes, make sure the pump is grounded, and if it is then try the 12v fuel pump mod to bypass the fuel pump control module. Use the article on the Supra, our cars are similar, I did it on mine. http://mkiv.com/techarticles/12v_mod/12v_mod.htm

i recently had this same issue happen to me. I got gas one day and a couple miles down the road the cars rpm’s dropped until it died. I tried to start and it would start then just die. We towed it home and rebuilt the fuel pump (with the advance auto brand stuff ) and now it cranks no start. However now with the key in the on position we hear the pump constantly whir until you switch the key off. We get it to kick over with starting fluid so we chased more of the fuel side of things. Since the pump is constantly whirring could it be it’s not building up enough pressure? Any ideas are appreciated. Also we checked the gas and let it sit for a couple minutes and no separation happened and even put some sta-bil in the tank to get rid of any water and still nothing.
