Door lock problem 2004 GS300
Hi ClubLexus. My car doesnt lock the doors when I press the lock on key fob button anymore...Ive searched for this problem but no answer. It started happening all of the sudden today. It does unlock the doors with no problems and opens the trunk as well....If I hold the lock button on key fob, alarm goes off so its not the problem with key fob itself...
What could be the problem? Have anyone had a similar experience? It locks/unlocks perfectly fine from inside using lock/unlock on the door panel. Everything works just fine using the key blade on door as well. It just that lock button on key fob quit working for some reasons.

We had the same issue... unlock/trunk worked, lock would not. To be honest, we never tried holding lock, to test panic. We will try that tonight, and report back.
Our answer was... make a new master key, and put that master away as an emergency spare (and we knew we'd always have a master, which is important for a '98).
Genuine Lexus master fobs are not expensive, and the key is 15yrs old... wouldn't hurt to have a hot-spare, and a new key in your pocket.

That shouldn't be an issue. The '98 GS is delivered with a master, valet, and a business-card sized emergency-master. We received just the master (not the valet or emergency-master), and have since added another master and another valet... so we're up to (5). Going to guess that the max-count is binary, so if it's (8), we have (3) more to go.Think positively...
