Transmission reverse issues

Hey all, my poor GS is having reverse problems... on a cold start (overnight or after work), it takes a good 30 seconds for reverse to engage whether I rev the engine or not. When it's hot, everything works perfect. I did a fluid and filter change about 15k miles ago and the fluid was fine. Fluid is still currently at the right level and no burnt smell. Again, when the vehicle is warmed up, reverse is not an issue. I've made it a point to back in to my driveway and at work so I don't get stuck in the parking space... Any thoughts on what the issue could be?
Any help is appreciated.

Have you looked for codes in the transmission? You may have a solenoid issue.

I had the same issue with my car, 01 GS430. On cold start it had a delay going into gear (Drive) and sometimes reverse. I changed fluids and the filter with no improvements. I changed solenoids with no improvements. Once the car warms up it would go into gear and drive with no issues.
Got tired of it and replaced the transmission with a low mileage unit that had 56K miles. Now she drives flawlessly.
Upon retrospect I came to the conclusion it was the torque convertor because if I rev the engine to 3/4K rpms for a about 15 seconds it would go into gear.
Hope you have better results with yours.

So I ended up replacing my transmission with one out of a 2003 SC430 with 41k miles. Just got it back today and man, what a difference. There was definitely something wrong with my old one for a while because this one shifts so much better and at the right RPM too. My old one would shift so quickly to the highest gear then jump right out of gear to a lower one with the slightest bit of additional throttle input. I never had experience with the GS430 before this one, so I really didn't know how the vehicle was supposed to drive/shift. 181k miles and I plan to keep running it for a while longer. I was on the fence about buying a newer Lexus when all this happened, but ultimately decided on fixing and keeping this one.
