Hello everyone, i own a 2000 GS 300 pearl white and i have 19in rims that haven't put on yet. My car is stock and not dropped. Ive seen pictures of 2nd gs on the rims i have stock height and i dont really like how it looks, it needs a bit of a drop.

So, my question is. Should i cut my stock springs to keep that ride stock comfort since i really dont want to buy springs or coilovers and lose that stock comfort. Has anyone cut there OEM springs? Would it cause suspension issues or ride problems?

I'ma say this not because I am selling some H&R springs but just buy lowering springs or coilovers. I rode in a GS recently with cut springs and it was horrible! My opinion but I wouldn't do it...The lowering springs on decent struts is the cheaper way. I see coilovers going 500 and up.

You can get Tein coilovers for 430-450 bucks. This gives you shocks matched to the lowering springs. Comfort and handling will be on point with the lowered look you want. Its not much more to fork over for a much better setup. Your struts might even be blown if everything is still stock. would suck to pull them off to put on lowering springs and find them blown and have to reuse them because you don't have new ons on hand. With the Tein street basis Z set you renew it all at once. You also have adjustable ride height, not just what the spring come at. Can further lower if you want.

Ok thanks for that info. But what if i buy tanabe springs just to cover a bit of gap not much. Would i still need to get shock? Or have to get aftermarket shocks?

You take your chances running lowering springs on stock struts. I was on Eibach springs and oem struts with 55k on them and blew one out in a few days. Granted the other 3 lasted a while but always taking a chance. Eibachs Oem struts rode great tho. Also used them with L-tuned struts and the ride was great also. When I moved on to Megan coilovers the ride was significantly harder but I also went lower

Oh ok. Thanks for that info. Coilovers run harder? Then ill pass on those, i think ill get so springs that are close to stock ride comfort and ive heard the tanabe are real close to stock. Not sure what other springs are close to stock ride.

Im getting 235/40/19 for front and 265/35/19 rear tires.

Im just looking for a small drop to cover the 19inch rims gap it will give.

You could always use RCA(roll center adapter) to give some drop also. They do not affect ride quality at all.

H&R sport springs are progressive so they're very comfortable compared to a lot of other springs on the market plus they will give the car better performance

Ok so H&R are real close to stock? I will alao look into that..its just going to be a very smal drop. Nothing major.

Your new wheels are going to worsen ride quality more than mild drop springs will.
