Default Keys keys keys

Hey everyone, My first time posting been following for a few weeks now. I just picked up a used 2000 gs300 about a week ago. I've been doing all the preventative maintenance, along with rebuilding the front end (i'll save that for another post)

Question: previous owner only had one key with NO key fob clicker. The current key doesn't work very will in the lock cylinders, it has the same issue in ALL the cylinders. While at the junkyard I found a junked 2000 gs300 same model and color! the best part it had keys!!!! So i pulled ALL the cylinders and the ecu unit but i forgot the immobilizer.
  • can I just swap ecu's and cylinders and be good to go?
  • Can i reprogram my current immobilizer?
  • I still have a chance to go back and get the immobilizer.
  • what are my options?
Thank you all in advance.

As far as I know the immobilizer is in the ecu. Is the key you have an original? Since it doesnt work very well in any lock I am assuming it is a bad cut. Would probably be easier to have a key cut from the vin and have the ecu flashed if the key you have isnt registered as a master.

Edit:

Yes with the new ecu and the keys for it, it should be pretty much "plug and play"

Plug and play is what I assume...

The junkyard key has the fob and works well in all the junkyard cylinders. Worst case I have the junkyard ecu flashed....

If you use the keys from the junkyard ecu with the junkyard ecu you wont have to flach anything, just program the remotes.

You are saying that you already have one key working valet key for your Lexus and you want a master key with the unlock/lock/trunk buttons?

You can get a new master key from the dealer, they will cut it to your vin for free (bring in your id and title) and then you can program it:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...400-430-a.html

Personally I would never want to change the keys/lock cylinders that originally matched the vin unless they were all missing.
