Turns over but won't start, then it will start
My son has a 1999 GS300. It usually starts fine but sometimes it will turn over but not start (video is attached). If he lets it sit for a little while, then it will start. This used to be more random, but it's becoming more frequent. I was thinking Camshaft/Crankshaft Position Sensors when he first told me about it, but in my experience, a vehicle won't even turn over when those are the issue.
Current codes read from the scanner are
P0440
P0500
I know he's had the P0440 for a long time. I'm not sure if either of these are related to the starting issue.

Hey man, not sure if this will help or is a problem on the 2jzge, BUT my 2jzgte vvti had died one day while driviing it on the highway, it would start up fine but would die instantly or would just continuously crank. I eventually wiggled some wires in the engine bay and got it home. took off my valve cover and low and behold my injector connectors/wiring was melted. I bought new coilpacks and connectors and fixed my issue. I found out by starting the car and have my buddy wiggle the coilpack connector harness and it would die once we wiggled it the wrong way confirming the issue. Coilpacks were fine but just changed them out anyways along with new connectors.
