Default Throttle body

Hey guys! I have a 2001 lexus gs300. I don’t know much about cars but I was told my accelerator pedal sensor was gone. So I just bought a used throttle body. It comes in the mail today and I push the throttle where the wire is wrapped around 🤷🏾‍♂️ and the plate barely moves. Is that something normal and do it need to be installed before it opens properly? I can take my finger and open the plate fine btw

Be sure it's the accelerator position sensor before you replace the throttle body. Did you receive any codes?

That is normal. It is electronically operated. The cable is just for the APP sensor integrated. Once installed it will open as necessary. Be sure to reset the computer with a battery disconnect so it relearns idle.

I did get check the codes and it’s gave me the code for the position sensor, but I’ve read where it’s best to just change the whole tb. So I went ahead and had it changed but I noticed when I was taking it apart the connector for the position sensor was missing. Only wires that was plugged into it. So sad to say I’m having the same problem with the other throttle body. Could it be that the connector is the problem? I’ve looked online to see which connector I should buy, but I’m having problems with it. Could anyone refer a link or a part number or something for this connector. Like I said I went on eBay to try and find it but being there’s no old connector I can’t tell which one is right for my vehicle. Thanks for all the responses.

Yes, it's probably the connector. It's unlikely both the original and replacement throttle body is bad. That's why you always want to test the resistance with a multimeter first before you order another parts.

Anyway, this thread will tell you everything you need to know. You will need the connector and the pins:

After you have everything installed but before connecting it check the resistance as I outlined above for the APPS.

Btw, you should be able to find the plug with pins together. Do a search on eBay or Amazon. For example:
