Just got done doing the timing belt on my 2005 GS430. During the process, I somehow lost track of where the ground was bolted in on the alternator. There is a plug that snaps into the back of the alternator, then the hot wire that's bolted on the top. I'm left with a metal plate with one bolt. Can anyone remind me where this ground goes?

Any of the brackets would work, there is a “G” cast into the alternator belt the bracket it should be attached to, but u probably can’t see it after the alternator has been installed but a ground is a forgiving bit of wiring, so just attach it to the bracket that looks easier to bolt it to. There might even be a nut welded to it with no other use except a ground. Can’t remember if that’s the case for sure, but pretty sure

On my 2003 GS430 the lower bolt of the ALT is where the negative or ground battery cable connects to. Once you remove the bottom bolt that goes into the engine block you'll see a couple of plates that you have to take off the old ALT and put on the new ALT. It's pretty self explantatory once you have taken the bottom bolt off and see it. There were two plates on my old Lexus ALT but only one was connected. I put both on just in case ...
