Smile 1998 Lexus GS400 overheats on highways

I have changed the radiator fan as it was not working, the radiator cap and the thermostat as it was broken and thought these would solve the issue.

The car is fine in city driving and at low speeds, but driving for 140 kmph for 15 minutes and the temp gauge starts to rise.

Could it be the water pump or the head gasket ?

The coolant levels are also low after every drive. I use the red long life toyota coolant.

Definitely sounds like a head gasket, unless you are leaking coolant out as you drive from somewhere else, like the water pump. Might have a shop pressure test it. But if there are no external leaks, the coolant has to be going somewhere right? So into the cyls is the likely situation.

Did you purge all of the air out of the system? If you don’t have coolant in your oil or oil in your coolant you probably have some air trapped

Can u smell Burning antifreeze? If the coolant gets low, it’s going to run hot. Most auto parts stores have pressure testers in their loaner-tools. That help u pin point where the coolant is going.

Head gasket recently replaced depends very much on the competence of the mechanic or whomever performed the work. Head and block surface prep, torque sequence and spec. If you say the coolant gets low and you're having to add coolant, but no external leaks, the coolant has to be going somewhere right? Into a cylinder or cylinders is the most likely thing happening.
