I would be afraid to even drive a GS4 with low miles like that. Knowing it’s practically not replaceable. Living in NY I would be afraid someone’s going to hit me. I even thought that of my own because any clean GS4 with under 150k miles is not easily replaceable now and days. Can only imagine with 50k miles. Better install flamethrowers to keep everyone away

Agreed and that was one of my initial concerns to where I felt the need to speak to my insurance company. It's not my only ride so it's not exposed to some of the chaos you mentioned. But...a accident can happen anywhere. We drive my wife's GX460 most places on the weekends and I also have a F250 that I prefer to use if I'm doing any significant interstate/highway driving. It's interesting the comment about being replaceable...shortly after I bought this another popped up for sale in Dallas with similar mileage and history. They were asking something like $16,000 it sat for almost a year and it sold a few months ago. I'd be curious to know what they got for it. I do enjoy having a somewhat unique car in comparison to most everything else on the road. Periodically I see a 300, 400 or a 430 but that are rarely in the same condition as my car.

wow hella clean. Timeless design. Probably one of the only cars from the 90s that still looks good today and not old sitting next to newer cars. Now you just need some GS430 tail lights.

Have a feeling labor will approach $500 +/-.
I replaced all the door actuators for the first time about 5 years ago. Now the actuators on both my front doors are not working again, so planning to replace them again this weekend. I remember doing them the first time and it took me about 1.5hrs on the first door because I started with the front driver side which happens to be the most difficult one. The rest got easier each time as I got more familiar with the process and learn from my mistakes. Last door (rear passenger) took me about 20 minutes from start to finish.

it’s real easy trust me. I’m not a mechanic and I hate doing work on the car but all you have to do to remove the door panels is pop out some clips and a couple screws and it comes right off. I believe the actuator is only a couple of screws also. If you check YouTube there’s great videos on how to remove the door panel if you search Lexus GS speaker replacement.

my 99 gs400 is hanging in there. 310k miles, runs great. starter solenoid quit working last weekend and finally got a place to address it. long story short; i sanded clean the plunger and contacts and seems to be good as new.

Have you changed the 3rd timing belt yet?

We imported this early-production Aristo V300 for my wife to drive. Slowly getting it back up to snuff - it only had two owners in Japan, and has some deferred suspension maintenance. It's been a blast so far! Sitting around 170k km, or 105k-ish miles.

I have a 2004 GS300, 159K miles, and runs, and drives like new. I've had the car for 17 years, and 130K miles.
Normal issues with the door locks, and Mark Levinson Amplifier ( replacing it again)
Only parts replaced, besides normal maintenance, were the Air resonator box, Valve cover gaskets, all the engine Vacuum hoses, Door locks, Shift solenoid "C".
What a fine automobile!! No plans to sell, or replace!

Default Door lock actuators

Inexpensive, and fairly easy to change.
I've done all 4 of mine

Did you get aftermarket or OEM for the Shift Solenoid "C"? I just want to know how much it is to have one replaced as I have the dreaded P0763 code show up recently. I noticed a slight hesitation in acceleration when the code came on (I saw the code pop up as I was stepping on the gas at a red light). I cleared the code when I got home and it has been driving normally for the last two weeks.

I used an OEM, that I bought off the Bay. Not hard to change.
If I remember, it was about $180.

Cool Does NEW Battery Impact Better Performance??

hey GS drivers, just got a new AAA battery installed & of course the car starts much more powerfully with new amps/cranking, but don't think i'm crazy nor imagining things when saying the car seems to accelerate much faster, has better control, smoothness, etc, & FEELS ALMOST LIKE NEW !! LOL

Any Comments? thanks!!

I heard the battery isn’t supposed to do anything other then start the car but if you had a very drained battery maybe the alternator was focusing on trying to charge the battery and sacrificed some power.
